Taiwan'17 - Seven Star Lake (Qi Xing Tan) 七星潭

Image
Panoramic Shot, click to view  Walked to the Hualien Station, to board the Hualien Bus which we used for our Taroko trip. It is only one stop away, and it costs NT$24 one way (NT$48 for both) I've always loved the sea. Qi Xing Tan is a pebbled beach located at the pacific ocean. It another must-go for me when I chose to visit Hualien for this trip.  There are shops at the back of lorries, that sells local delights like 烤地瓜 and drinks, for a pretty affordable price. I mean, as compared to what we see at shops near the beaches, in other beaches. I shall let the photos do the talking since picture speaks a thousand words. Geddit geddit? >_< Pebbled ground. Blue sea. Clear Skies. Perfect. Helped graduating students to take photo of them in graduation gowns in exchange for our photo After visiting Qi Xing Tan we went around Hualien Station, before collecting our luggages, to proceed back to Taipei.

Taiwan'17 - MUNA Hostel

On my first night in Hualien, we decided to stay in a better hostel, nearer to the Hualien station, as the transportation is not as accessible as Taipei's. Thus, we chose MUNA out of the different hotels / hostels there are in Hualien.  It cost NT$1800, per night, which adds up to S$41 per person. I ain't sure if it is worth the price, but, I shall say, it is really convenient and comfortable. It is opened by a couple (Boyfriend and Girlfriend), who were travelling to Japan on the day we check out.  Free coffee, anytime of the day.  The price comes with breakfast, so me and jasmine ordered set A, which is pork chop egg hamburger + 2 hotdogs + 1 drink (Black Tea / Milk Tea / Soya Milk / Orange Juice). And it is delivered to us at our specified timing, the next morning.  Breakfast in bed. Located at 國民三街, it is accessible via walking, and we can reach in 10 minutes from Hualien Station. If you manage to avoid drivers who approach you for tours to Tar

Taiwan'17 - Hualien Taroko Gorge National Park 花蓮太魯閣國家公園

Taroko Gorge is one of my must go places in Taiwan, because it looks extreeeeeeeeemly pretty in photos and videos.  Because we are going there, directly from the airport, we could't meet the timing for the package KKDay offers at a relatively low price of S$30 per person. As tour packages starts from S$200 per car of maximum 4 pax, which works out to more than S$50 per person. Thus, we decided to just go using public transportation. Contrary to beliefs, public transportation is slow, not worth the money, etc. However, we managed to cover a total of 5 locations, in our 4 hours there.  It might not be the best way to truly experience Taroko, but, for 4 hours, and on a budget travel, it is definitely worth it. When we were trying out this route, we actually met with our tourists, like us, who are there to explore the area. And definitely, striking a conversation is simply the best thing ever. The ticket costs NT$250 (S$11.40), for a day worth of unlimited travelling in a
